Another Broken Record

The Dark Knight just crossed the $300 million mark this weekend, just as predicted, it now holds the record of getting to $300 million the fastest, 10 days. Next record, getting to $400 million the fastest, which everyone is predicting to happen in a week. It is amazing to see how much this movie is making, breaking records back and forth. The number one movie is Titanic which is at $600 million, everyone is saying that if any movie can get close to how much Titanic has made, even surpass it, it is Dark Knight. How much can the movie actually make, we will have to see. Nonetheless, amazing movie. This weekend was pretty decent for the other movies, Stepbrothers opened up at number 2 spot with $30 million, and X Files opened up in number 4 spot with $10 million.

$300 million for Dark Knight

It is possible. This weekend, we see the releases of X Files 2 and Step Brothers, unfortunately I haven't seen any of them, I will probably check out X Files 2 later on, I haven't seen the first movie and I don't know much about the TV series. But neither look like they will take the top spot. The Dark Knight will probably be number one again this weekend, and as of Wednesday it stands at $222.1 million, so this weekend it could cross the $300 million mark, and it would have done it in 10 days, that is a big record. The movie that holds the record for reaching $300 million the fastest is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which took about 16 days to reach it. The interesting part would be if it crosses $300 million this weekend, it will have crushed Iron Man's record of being number one this whole summer, and it took Iron Man basically two months to reach $300 million, and it only would take 10 days for Dark Knight to reach the top spot of the summer, as well as the year.

Bigger record

Found out yesterday that Dark Knight earned 158 million during the past weekend instead of $155 million, which is $3 million more. That is impressive, and it is still doing great. I am really sure that it will be the number one movie of the summer, in fact, the year. Some are predicting that it could end up with more than $400 million, we will have to see how much the movie ends up with.

This weekend, we have X Files 2 and Step Brothers released in theaters. With that, I think that Dark Knight will remain on top again this coming weekend. I got to see the movie again on Monday, still excellent.

As for DVD picks this week, there is 21. 21 is about a group of students who go to Las Vegas to count cards. It is a really good movie, I recommend it.

The summer is winding down, I can't believe how fast it has gone. Basically one more month to go. The remainder of movies coming out for the rest of the summer are Mummy 3, Star Wars Clone Wars, Babylon A.D., Traitor, Swing Vote, and others, but nothing that will stun everyone I don't think.

Dark Knight sets new box office record

Dark Knight was number one at the box office this weekend (no surprise), and it received an income of $155.3 million, which is a new record for the most a movie has made in one weekend. Spider Man 3 held that position last year, not Dark Knight took over that position. It has also set a new record of making the most money in one day, with about $66 million. As well, on Thursday night, it also set the new record of earning the most during a midnight showing, with about $18.5 million. And as well, it has set the record for the most a Batman movie has made in opening weekend, or any weekend for that matter.

The Dark Knight review

To start off, I thought The Dark Knight was amazing. It was very well put together. I really didn't know what to expect when I walked in, I had some ideas, but found myself stunned as I was watching the movie and to see the plot unravel. This movie truly is the big summer blockbuster that we have been hyping about. The movie was filled with intense situations for our heroes, even times where difficult choices had to be made.

When I first heard about Heath Ledger playing the Joker, I never really thought of how he would pull it off. His performance was amazing, shocking, terrifying, and magnificent. I have read a lot how he could get a posthumous Oscar nomination, he does deserve it, that's how great the performance was. Everyone else was great as well Christian Bale always does a good job as Bruce Wayne/Batman, along with Michael Caine as Alfred, I really liked Aaron Eckhart's performance for Harvey Dent.

I give this movie a very high recommendation, do not miss it.

Two Days!!

We only have two days till The Dark Knight opens. I have been reading that tickets have been selling like crazy. It's getting really exciting. I ended up buying the soundtrack to the movie yesterday, and it's pretty good. I really like a lot of Hans Zimmer's work, and James Newton Howard also does a good job on the soundtrack as well. I also decided to post the poster of Batman on the Batpod, I thought just showing the Batpod wasn't enough, so here is one with Batman riding it.

There are a lot of really cool Dark Knight posters out there, and yes, this is one of them. I will be back tomorrow with a review for the movie.

Hype for the Dark Knight

Well the weekend has come and gone, and Hellboy 2 took the number one spot this weekend, Journey to the Center of the Earth took third place, and Meet Dave crashed in 7th place. That is the update for the new movies, Hancock was in second place, doing pretty solid.

Only 5 more days till the release of The Dark Knight. I have been reading a lot on the Dark Knight recently and I was thinking what has caused the hype for this movie to be so huge. It is definitely the most hyped movie of the summer, and could very well be the most hyped movie of the year. I want to go through some key why this is the most hyped movie of the year.

1. Batman Begins. It is an excellent movie, probably one of the best Batman movies to ever be made, The Dark Knight will probably beat that, but Batman Begins definitely helped set everything up for The Dark Knight. The ending for Batman Begins was with a hint of the Joker coming.

2. Heath Ledger as the Joker. The Joker is one of the most iconic villains in the Batman series. I was shocked to hear that he was playing the Joker. First of all, before I saw the first trailer, I had it set in my mind that there is no way that anyone could beat out Jack Nicholson’s performance of the Joker, in which I thought was great. I looked at Heath Ledger and didn’t really see him as a villain, but when I watched the first trailer before the movie I Am Legend, I was completely blown away by how amazing the performance was, I had a hard time believing that was Heath Ledger, and even today when I watch any of his clips online, I still don’t see Heath Ledger, I see the Joker. On a side note, with Heath Ledger gone now, that will get a lot of Heath fans out to the theaters to see his last performance, which should be spectacular.

3. Many other great performances. Christian Bale did an amazing job as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Begins, so we are already expecting him to be excellent again, as well as Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman returning. We also have Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, and Aaron Eckhart joins the cast as Harvey Dent.

4. Harvey Dent. As you may know, district attorney Harvey Dent becomes Two Face; it will be interesting to see how he turns out. There are rumors that he does become Two Face in this movie.

5. Batpod. The new motorbike that Batman rides looks sweet. The Batmobile was sweet in the last movie, looks like they brought out an even sicker vehicle that comes “in black”.

6. Big movie. Everything about this movie is big. They even shot a few of the action scenes in IMAX format. IMAX is the largest format, and it can bring forth the best detail in a picture. The movie will also be released at the IMAX on the same day as in regular theaters; there have been people telling me they want to try to see the movie in the IMAX Theater.

So these are just some of the reasons why everyone is excited for The Dark Knight. Feel free to share some other opinions as to why you think everyone is looking forward to this movie. Once I see the movie, I will share my review for it.

Warm up Weekend

I had the chance to see Hellboy 2 Thursday night, I enjoyed, something really different than what I have seen before. I never saw the movie Pan's Labyrinth, so I couldn't make comparisons between the director's two works, but I do want to watch the first Hellboy again. The visuals to the movie were cool. Anyone that likes the work of Guillermo del Toro will enjoy this. The other new releases this weekend are Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D and Meet Dave. I am sure there are a lot of you will wait this weekend out and hold on to your money for Dark Knight. Hard to believe that next weekend it will be in theaters. I have talked to a lot of people about this movie and this is the one movie that everyone has been looking forward to the most. If anyone has Batman Begins, I recommend watching it to get ready for The Dark Knight, or if you don't own it, I recommend buying it, it is an excellent movie.

It's Been A While

Sorry everyone, it's been a while since I have put a post up. I am doing great. I had a wonderful time in Hawaii. It was one of my best trips ever, I was there for a family reunion and it was wonderful. I went to the island of Maui, there was so much to do and so much to see, but the best part about the trip was simply just going onto the beach and swimming in the ocean. I also had the chance to snorkel, which was amazing. I also got to parasail, really fun, I recommend it.

As for movies, I pretty much just got caught up with what is at the theaters. I just got out of Hancock not too long ago, really good movie, I was surprised as I did not know really what to expect. Will Smith was great. Another movie I got to see was Wall-E, really great movie. I highly recommend it, it was really funny and just well done altogether.

Hellboy 2 makes it's way to theaters this weekend, along with Journey to the Center of the Earth and Meet Dave. I am looking forward to Hellboy 2, I didn't really care for the first one but this one seems to have some pretty good potential, I will try to catch the first one again and give it another look. I will let you know what I think of Hellboy 2.

One more week till The Dark Knight. I am very excited to see it. So far, the reviews for the movie have been very positive. The big attraction is Heath Ledger as the Joker. I have caught a few clips of the movie on the net and the movie looks amazing. Heath Ledger's performance seems amazing and I look forward to seeing his whole performance when it comes out next week. Like always, I will share with you what I think of the movie. Anyone that can't wait that long, Batman Begins just got released on Blu-Ray on Tuesday, as well as another DVD release for the movie as a gift set. As well, they released a collection of animated shorts onto a DVD entitled "Batman: Gotham Knight" it is suppose to show the journey from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight. I purchased the DVD and I found the shorts to be very interesting, I enjoyed them a lot. Other DVD recommendations are Vantage Point if you haven't seen the movie yet, it is really good.

Still more things to be coming out in theaters and on DVD in the future, and I will keep you posted. Also, tomorrow will be the release of the iPhone 3G. Much to look for this month.
