Top 24 Most Anticipated Movies of 2024

With 2023 over a few weeks ago, and I know I'm late with this, but it's time to go through the movies to look forward to this year, and I will give you my list of these movies I'm most anticipating this year, following my same pattern, I will be giving you my 24 most anticipated movies for this year. Here you go

24. Madam Webb - I'm putting this at the bottom as it sounds like it won't be that great, but hey you never know, but I'm still very intrigued by this movie, and do plan to check it out when it comes out.

23. Red One - Don't know too much about this yet, but it is suppose to be a Christmas movie with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, and so with that, I'm already interested.

22. Garfield - The first trailer we got did grab my attention. I did watch some of the original show when it it was on TV, never saw the live action movies, but I want to check this out.

21. Legend of the White Dragon - Not familiar with this, no worries, this sticks out to me because Jason David Frank from Power Rangers is involved and this is his last project before he passed away.

20. Arthur The King - Just saw one trailer and it's enough for me to want to check out, I enjoy inspiring movies like this that make you want to do a little better. Probably not an opening weekend movie, but still want to see it.

19. Gladiator 2 - One of those that I can't believe is actually going to come out, and can't believe that it's been filmed, and it's basically tangible. The first one is a great movie, and naturally I'm curious on this sequel.

18. Argylle - Spy movie with a cat, and right now that's all I know, but the trailer I watched made it looked like it would be fun. Also looks like it has a fun cast attached to this, should be a good time.

17. Deadpool 3 - This will be higher on many other lists, this is not for me as I'm not the biggest fan of Deadpool, but what interests me here is having Wolverine in this movie, and also many cameos from the X-Men movies, so that has my curiosity peaked. 

16. Venom 3 - Not a whole lot I know about this movie yet, but I enjoyed the first two and there is always the possibility of them doing some pretty fun stuff with this one, and so I look forward to see what they do to make this stand out, hoping good again.

15. Coyote Vs Acme - Basically a gamble putting this on this list as no set date is established, in fact we may never get it, but I'm including it here as I'm anticipating this as the premise sounds very clever and I'm hoping this sees the light of day.

14. Transformer One - It is not another live action Transformers movie, this is an animated one. I don't know a whole lot here but this is suppose to take place on the planet of Cybertron and is suppose to be an origin story.

13. Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire - We got a fantastic Godzilla movie this past year, and this will be very different in tone, but hey I really enjoy these types of movies. This will be more of a spectacle movie and I enjoyed the last Godzilla vs Kong movie, so I expect a very fun time.

12. Twisters - Still not sure if this is a sequel or whatnot, but I enjoyed the movie Twister from 1996, and whatever this movie is, I'm sure what we will get is a movie that will have what made the 1996 movie fun and turn that up quite a few notches, there should be more than one twister. I expect a very fun time.

11. Kung Fu Panda 4 - Really wasn't something I was anticipated, but then I saw the trailer and that trailer struck the right chord with me, and now I'm really looking forward to it, and them bringing back some of the older villains grabbed my attention.

10. Inside Out 2 - The first movie was among my top movies of 2015, and I rewatched not too long ago and still holds up. Can this movie live up to the original, not sure, but I'm definitely hoping so as it does feel like it's expanding on the concept in a natural way.

9. A Quiet Place Day One - I still remember the first movie being an incredible movie going experience, and then the second one matched that as well, both had great stories. While a different director this time around and more of a prequel, I feel like this could have a great story to it.

8. Beetlejuice 2 - Part of me wonders if this movie may be too late, but Tim Burton is directing this and we have Michael Keaton returning to this role, so I have confidence that if it isn't everything we are hoping for, that it will be something that should be very intriguing and will be worth checking out.

7. The Fall Guy - Didn't know anything about this movie, but then I saw the trailer and it looks like something that will be a fun summer movie. I also didn't know this is based on a tv show of the same name. Also there is a great cast attached as well.

6. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 - Very much enjoyed the first two movies. The first one was a surprise for me, and also the sequel just felt like a movie very true to the world of Sonic. The post credit sequence was enough for me to get really pumped with what we will get with this sequel.

5. If - Heard about this and sounded like an interesting premise, and the talent attached was enough to grab my attention, but when the trailer dropped, I decided to check it out, and now I'm very much anticipating this movie and do want to check this out when it arrives in theaters.

4. Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim - Been anticipating this ever since they announced it a while back. An anime version of one of the Lord of the Rings stories, it will focus on Helm's Deep many years before the events in the trilogy. Look forward to what we get here.

3. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - The trilogy that we got this past decade is excellent, with the second movie being my favorite. With a new director I was curious and a little concerned, but the trailer we got was enough to suck me into the world and looking forward to what we will get with this continuation. Also, this director will be helming the Legend of Zelda live action movie, so this should have to grab the attention of many.

2. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Naturally I'm stoked for this movie as I'm a Ghostbusters fan, and plus I really liked the previous entry we got back in 2021. This will have the cast members from that entry returning here, and it looks like the older Ghostbusters will suit up once again as well. We return to New York City but there seems to be some things that make it seems like it will take things in a new direction and look forward to see what we get here.

1. Dune Part Two - What was my most anticipated movie of 2023 is my most anticipated movie of this year, the delay has not dampened my anticipation for this movie. Also this movie screams to be seen on the biggest screen possible, so I will see in IMAX on opening night, also I believe this was actually filmed with IMAX cameras. The first movie was the best thing in 2021 and this is suppose to take place basically right where the first one ended. I'm very stoked for this one.

Top 10 of 2023

 Well, we made it through another year, and that means it's time to share my top 10 of 2023. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out which ones would be in various spots, even a few that I did not include on the list but if I was able to add more spots I would have included. Anyway here we go.

10. Godzilla Minus One - This was not on my radar to see, but I ended up checking it out and it was very impressive. Mainly the story was great, and what it all entailed. I did not see very many of the older Godzilla movies nor did I see the one from Japan before this, but I was able to follow it just fine.

9. Elemental - I'm very glad Pixar went to making original movies again, I really like when they do so, and I like it when they take a very unique concept and make it work. This is another movie from their catalogue that had a unique concept and made a very emotional story with it that was very engaging.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 - With so many movies made by Marvel Studios, there is always one that makes a large impression, this is the one I felt was their best this year. I will admit that this was one of their hardest to watch in a long time, mainly with the torture aspects, however I cared so much about the characters I was on the edge of my seat.

7. Air - All about the creation of a pair of shoes, and yet this true story was very engaging from beginning to end. Another movie based on a true story I didn't know all the facts and seeing it all unfold was very engaging and also there were a ton of great performances, and I was just hoping for the main characters to be successful. 

6. The Creator - Didn't know about this movie until the middle of the year when the trailer dropped, and the trailer brought back feels of a science fiction movie I would have watched in the late 90s, and from that moment I wanted to see it and it delivered, it had a good story, but the visuals of the movie were incredible, especially with the budget they had. Plus a great score from Hans Zimmer.

5. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - Never saw the original movie from 2000, but this was one that was a very fun theatrical experience, and even continued to be a fun experience watching it at home. The characters and performances were great and it is full with a ton of great humor and situations that were great to see how they would unfold. This is that many had not seen and I think all should see.

4. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One - Each Mission Impossible movie I continue to be excited for and they each continue to deliver and get better. They are great to see on the biggest screen possible and I'm glad I got to see this on IMAX twice during the first week. The action set pieces were incredible and it was great to see how they were crafted as well. I have also found the story to be rather engaging and despite it being longer than the others, I find it go by rather fast and worth rewatching.

3. The Boy and the Heron - Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite animated directors, anything he puts out I will want to check out. Even without seeing a single frame or knowing much about the movie I will want to check it out. They released the movie in Japan initially without a trailer or synopsis, I almost didn't watch the trailer when it hit the US, but I caved in. But I tried to avoid much beyond that trailer, and it was a very engaging experience. The atmosphere of the movie was simple yet full of wonder and amazement that it was hard to look away. Proof why Hayao Miyazaki is still one of my favorite directors.

2. Spider Man Across The Spiderverse - Between this and my top choice was very hard, and I still wrestle with it as I think about it, but for now I'm going with this, but I could change my mind next week. Anyway, this is an incredible movie, not just animated movie, but incredible movie altogether. This is compared to The Empire Strikes Back and I agree with that, but each frame is a work of art and I have a hard time taking my eyes off the screen and I'm just engaged with everything that is going on at each moment and I care about the characters and I'm just wanting them to get the next movie done so I can see how the overall story wraps up.

1. Oppenheimer - Christopher Nolan continues to bring us incredible movies, even if one of his movies has some bugs in it, there is a sense of passion and a sense of wonder in how it's made. He is one that makes his movies with limited computer effects, and seeing those come into play makes the craft of his movies more magnificent. This movie was amazing, in how it was crafted on a practical level, on an editing level, on a story level, on a performance level, on all levels. There is so much going on that it becomes hard to look away or become distracted, and just seeing the elements work to create this engaging story, with how it was filmed really transports us to this story and gets us close to the inside of the mind of Oppenheimer himself. It's hard to say, but there are moments I'm close to this is Christopher Nolan's best work, maybe not my favorite, though up there, but this is probably his masterpiece.

This is my list of my top 10 of 2023. Look forward to seeing what 2024 brings us. 

Top 23 Most Anticipated Movies of 2023

It's that time again, to give my list of my most anticipated movies of the coming year, this time for 2023, and looking at all the offerings that we are suppose to get, there are many that won't be on this list that I will be keeping an eye on. This feels like a year of abundance of movies, so we will see how this year shapes.

23. Wildwood - First off, I don't know if we actually getting this movie this year, but it's Laika Studio's next offering, and it's directed by Travis Knight who directed Kubo and the Two Strings. If it comes out, I will be seeing it.

22. Shazam Fury of the Gods - I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, and this one appears to have much of the fun that was in the first one, and just seeing an expansion of the lore looks like this could be a very fun movie.

21. How Do You Live - Once again, I don't know if we will be getting this movie, but it's Hayao Miyazaki's latest movie, supposedly his last one, unless he comes out of retirement again after. Japan is getting this in the summer, hopefully we get it before the end of the year.

20. Fast X - Yes, I did put the latest movie of the Fast franchise on my list, I don't know if it will deliver, but I do look forward to seeing what craziness they come up with next, they went to space, so maybe they will go to the center of the earth or go back in time. 

19. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter - Last time we got a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for the big screen was in 2016, and I enjoyed it as a one time watch for a few laughs, but with Seth Rogen helping out here, I think there could be some great passion here. Can't wait.

18. Haunted Mansion - Still have not seen the Haunted Mansion movie from 2003, but that doesn't mean I'm not anticipating a new movie on the classic theme park ride. I don't know much about this, but I got to think this will be a fun movie.

17. The Marvels - Captain Marvel was a movie I enjoyed quite a bit back in 2019, not a favorite, but the 90s aspect of it was fun. I look forward to what happens with the Captain Marvel character next, but the character I'm excited to see adventures for next is Ms Marvel after her show this past year.

16. 65 - Dinosaurs vs Adam Driver, sold. We were given a trailer for it recently and that was enough to get me really pumped for this movie. I have no clue how it will be but also it is worked on by the creators of A Quiet Place, so that brings up my anticipation a few more notches.

15. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - With the DC as it is about to be rebooted, why should I care about another movie with this iteration of this character. The reason isn't regarding continuation, but more about how much I enjoyed the adventure in the last movie, and just look forward to another adventure in this world.

14. Coyote Vs Acme - Have this here mainly because of the premise of the movie. So this is about Coyote, the one who is trying to get that Road Runner in the Looney Tunes cartoon, where he feels he has been sold faulty rockets and all, and decides to sue Acme as a result. Seriously this premise sounds rather intriguing, can't wait.

13. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - Many of you are probably confused why I have a new Transformers movie on here. Let me start with the first reason, Michael Bay is not directing this one, hoping this will bring a new direction. Second, this involves the Beast Wars characters which I was a fan as a kid. Third, I enjoyed Bumblebee, which brings hope to me for this franchise.

12. Suzume - Ever since Your Name, I have become a fan of Makato Shinkai's work. Yes, I saw two other of his works before this but Your Name was the one that really pointed me to his work. The trailers have been visually stunning and I can't wait to uncover the mystery of this movie when it arrives in theaters in April.

11. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - Not really grown up playing Dungeons and Dragons, but for some reason, when I saw this trailer, it really grabbed my attention, and just looks like it will be a ton of fun. I don't know if this will deliver, but I would at least it would bring on the fun.

10. Elementals - Pixar's next movie on their radar. I really enjoy their original stories they try to tell, and I really like when they to create brand new unique worlds to tell their stories, like the mind in Inside Out. This feels like it has vibes to Inside Out and the fact that this will be Pixar's return to theaters for originals after a few movies being sent to Disney+, I'm excited to see this one.

9. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - Just because the last Indiana Jones wasn't a slam dunk, or an unfortunate rebound, that doesn't mean I'm done with the series. The only concern is that Steven Spielberg isn't directing this, but we have James Mangold coming to direct this and he has done many great movies. Plus that recent trailer really got me pumped.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 - Back in 2014, we got a Marvel movie that surprised many of us, which was Guardians of the Galaxy, it got my attention and it blew me away. It has been six years since we got our last stand alone entry for Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'm ready for one last ride with these characters and see how they deliver a great finale. Also very glad they brought back James Gunn to direct.

7. Super Mario Bros - Since I was a child, I have been a huge fan of the Super Mario Bros, I played the Nintendo games quite frequently. I will admit, I enjoyed the 1993 live action movie, and no it's not a good movie, but I do find joy watching it for how unusual the experience is. However, this is something that really captures my imagination of the world and captures the vibes of all these games, which I didn't think we would ever get. Each trailer gets me more and more excited, and I can't wait. 

6. Ghostbusters Afterlife 2 - The latest movie we got in 2021 was one of my favorites of that year, mainly because it brought back many emotions of the series, especially from the first movie, and it was a movie that was very special for me as a result with these connections to Egon Spengler. I'm stoked to see what they do next with the set of characters that they have introduced in the latest movie, especially with the Spnegler kids. Also, with them coming back to New York, I'm curious where they go from here.

5. Oppenheimer - Christopher Nolan is one of those filmmakers that I keep an eye on each time he reveals his next movie, and Oppenheimer is no exception. I don't know much about the real life events regarding this man that is being portrayed, but I did get to see the trailer as it was playing in IMAX theaters before Avatar The Way of Water, and the scope of the movie was enough to really blow me away and I want to see it day one, in IMAX of course.

4. Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania - Ant Man has become of those characters that I really like in the MCU, each of his movies are very enjoyable. I like the small scale of these movies, and that they have done some rather fun things. This one is this high for many reasons, one is I have been interested in seeing more of the Quantum Realm since it's been introduced, and this movie promises us a great trip there, and that we get a large scale villian who will play a key role here. I'm very stoked.

3. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 - Each Mission Impossible movie has gotten better and better I feel, with the latest one being an incredible spectacle that I was not expecting to be reached. This is suppose to be the first part of a two part finale of the Mission Impossible series, and all I can say that if this movie delivers what the first teaser showed us, then I think we can be in for something incredible. Count me in for day one at the IMAX to see this.

2. Spider Man: Across The Spiderverse - It's been a few years since we got the first animated version of Spider Man, and it is still one of, if not the best, Spider Man movie we have seen. It's still worth rewatching to this day and just a mind blowing experience. I can't wait to see where they take us with this new one, and not only would the mind blowing journey be amazing, but I think this could have a very impactful story. Waiting these few months will be difficult.

1. Dune: Part 2 - The first Dune movie was incredible, it was a spectacle that was just begging to be seen on the biggest screen possible. With the crew returning for the second one, I'm expecting nothing short of what we got before, in which I will be seeing on the IMAX screen. Also, the additional cast that they have added for this continuation seems to be incredible. Everything about this movie, even without seeing a trailer, I'm expecting this to be the best movie of the year. Sounds like a long shot, but the first was my favorite in 2021 so I think it has a great shot here. 

So this is my list of anticipated movies of 2023. Will these deliver, we shall see, but it looks to be an incredible year for movies, that's for sure. 

Top 10 of 2022

 It's that time again, time to rank my top 10 favorite movies of the year. This is not going to be everyone's favorites of the year, but these are the ones that had more of the bigger impact on me this year, so here we go.

10. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story - This one was not on my radar at all, but once it came out on Roku, me and a few friends watched it, and I was laughing non stop. This is not a biography on Weird Al, but more of a parody. This brought on my biggest laughs of the year.

9. Thirteen Lives - Got to watch recently, and I did not know the whole story of the kids getting rescued from the cave, so all this unfolding made me wonder how they would get them out, and how it unfolded was crazier than I was expecting it to be. As well, this had fantastic performances as well.

8. Puss N Boots: The Last Wish - I saw the trailers a while back and it looked like a fun story, and I was looking forward to it, but I didn't think it would be more than just a fun story, there was a bit of a deeper meaning for the main character's journey and how he sought his nine lives back for selfish reasons, and how this was an exploration of his character, not something I was expecting from a sequel to a spinoff.

7. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - How do you make a sequel to a movie without your leading star from the original movie, that was something I found very compelling, but I felt this movie dealt with that obstacle very respectfully. This movie deals with grief of the loss of a main character, and a leader, and how that affected the nation and the rest of the characters. Plus this took us to some cool new locations.

6. Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio - Learned about this earlier in the year, but the later trailers grabbed my attention. I got to catch this one in theaters, and it was incredible in terms of the experience. The crafting of the characters was just amazing and the world was just incredible. Not only that, I thought it had a very solid story. Rather more impactful for me.

5. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery - Can a sequel top the original movie? I think so, does it do it here, I'm not ready to answer that yet. However, I can say that this was a sequel outdid my expectations, and rewatching the movie, especially knowing the ending, is a rewarding experience where I have caught many more things than I expected. Another one I was really glad I got to see in theaters.

4. The Batman - Well, it's been a decade since the last solo Batman movie, and there were plenty of questions on this one. I was really impressed with this one, the scope and the design of the world worked perfectly and there were excellent performances, even ones I wasn't expecting much from. I will admit that this is a bit long and a little too dark where I haven't rewatched as much, but this movie has left an impact. 

3. Avatar: The Way of Water - Exploring a world such as Pandora, you would figure that we saw everything in the first movie, well that's not the case, we get to explore the oceans of Pandora, and they are amazing to behold, seeing this new aspect of the world is mind blowing. Also, the motion capture and rendering of the characters is amazing. This is another one of those movies that I really think seeing the movie in 3D is the way to go, IMAX 3D, which helps immerse you into the movie more. But this is an immersive experience that you won't forget if you see it in theaters.

2. Everything Everywhere All At Once - Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness was my most anticipated movie of the year, and while I really did like it, I felt this one more than outdid it. In terms of story and performance, and also the use of exploring the multiverse was awesome, and rather crazy. Also the cool part was how they took such a huge concept such as the multiverse and told a more personal story. I have been a fan of Michelle Yeoh for years and I feel this is one of her best performances, plus getting Ke Huy Quan was great as well. This is one of those movies that can be rewatched many times. 

1. Top Gun Maverick - Never expected this honestly, this was a movie that was suppose to come out in 2020, and of course world events prevented it. I was okay with the delays, not the length, but the trailers gave the impression that I wanted to see this movie on the biggest screen first. Well, two years later, and this was a much better movie than I was expecting. I was expecting to be wowed by the aerial sequences, which is why I wanted to see it each year we were suppose to get it, but this movie featured a story that had more of an impact, and was somewhat reflective on the circumstances and choices of a character and how that can affect things, but how the main character can come back on top. The wait was worth it to experience this movie in IMAX but thankful it was more than I was expecting.

So this is my personal top 10 of the year, and I'm really excited to see what 2023 brings.

Top 22 Most Anticipated Movies 0f 2022

 Now that we are in 2022, it's time to present my list of the top 22 most anticipated movies of 2022. This will also include movies that I was excited to see in years past that got delayed, hoping we finally get them this year. Lets see if we get all these movies this year.

22. Slumberland - I really enjoyed Little Nemo as a kid, whether it was the NES game or the animated movie. This is a Netflix movie but I'm intrigued for sure.

21. Alien Country - Haven't heard of this? No worries, I would be surprised if you did, but based on what I saw, it looks like it could be a fun movie. 

20. Morbius - Originally suppose to come out in 202, but the delays just got me a little more curious on this and how it could turn out, especially now with the recent Spider Man movies. It wasn't anticipated in 2020, it was last year and it is again this year.

19. Strange Worlds - I just learned about this movie a few weeks ago, which we got a concept image for it and it was enough to get me really intrigued. This could be a really cool Disney film, can't wait for Thanksgiving.

18. The 355 - We got the trailer back in 2020, and the cast they have for it was what has gotten me invested in this, and I want to check this out. The big concern I have is the director also directed Dark Phoenix, but I believe in second chances so we will see.

17. Moonfall - Ridiculous disaster, check. Big special effects, check. Unbelievable plot, check. Yes, this looks like it will be a ridiculous movie, but based off the trailers it looks to be a really fun movie with lots to enjoy when I have popcorn (or whatever snack I will get at the theater).

16. Jurassic World Dominion - I wasn't that impressed with the last entry, so I'm not anticipating this as a result, but what has me anticipating this is the potential behind it but also having all the original cast from the first movie return. I will keep my eyes pealed for this.

15. Black Adam - Not sure exactly what to expect here, but listening to Dwayne Johnson talk about this movie and him being very enthusiastic about it, this got me intrigued enough and the footage they screened recently looked good so I have this on my radar.

14. Uncharted - Trailer 1 gave me a fun adventure movie that put this on my radar, and trailer 2 increased the fun aspect especially with the flying ships that this is definitely higher on my radar. I haven't played the games but everything about this has me pumped to check this out.

13. Thor Love and Thunder - What we got in Thor Ragnarok was a huge blast and it more than renewed my interest in the character Thor. With director Taika Waititi returning, I look forward to what we get this time around and where he could elevate things even further.

12. Super Mario Bros - Going to admit something that may not be popular, but I enjoyed the live action Super Mario Bros movie from 1993, it's not a good movie but I was entertained. However, despite that, I'm excited for this as I really think with Nintendo involved it will be a movie that will be more faithful to the world of the game.

11. Turning Red - Ever since we got the first trailer, I have been intrigued. We get a girl that turns into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited or too anxious, I feel this could be taken to many crazy scenarios, but what matters most is that I think we will get a very good story, and I look forward to it.

10. Aquaman 2 - The first movie was not initially on my anticipated list in the year it came out, but I saw it and it was something that I really enjoyed when I saw in theaters. With the sequel, I look forward to the return to the world and be able to explore more of the awesome places in this world.

9. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - With the passing of Chadwick Boseman last year, one of the questions I was wondering was what they would do, especially as they announced the decision to not recast T'Challa in the MCU. Plus, I really enjoyed the first one when it came out 4 years ago, so I have full confidence we will get something great.

8. The Flash - Michael Keaton back as Batman in this movie, and there will be an exploration of the DC multiverse, I'm sold. This has me very curious what we don't know, like who else will be in it, and what other universes we will get to explore. I have heard so many rumors at this point and I'm excited to see how this shapes out.

7. Avatar 2 - One of those 3D experiences that was incredible. I wasn't screaming for a sequel, but since it will be 13 years between the first movie and the sequel, I'm really curious to see why James Cameron took this amount of time exclusively to this without making another movie, even passing on movies like Alita and only producing it. Plus this is a cool world I look forward coming back to.

6. Top Gun Maverick - Third time's the charm, yes this movie has been anticipated for me since 2020, but I really do think we will finally get it this year. The reasons I'm still excited to see this is for the flight shots featured in the trailer which look incredible, and the director has done movies that I have very much enjoyed. Can't wait to see this.

5. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - We got the first movie in 2020 and I wasn't super excited to see it when it first came out, but I was very surprised with what we got, and with the announcement of the sequel, I was excited for what we could potentially get, and then when we got the trailer and there were greater vibes from the video games, this movie went up on my anticipated list, and I'm pumped to see it.

4. The Batman - Every trailer we have gotten for this movie has been really cool, they have sold me on the look and feel of Gotham, and the practicality of the fights have been cool. It's been ten years since we got our last solo Batman film, and this has a great director which I have full confidence in and look forward to how he puts it together. Also, I have a hard time thinking that's Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

3. Mission Impossible 7 - The last few Mission Impossible movies have been fantastic and each entry has been awesome, with the last one being grand in scope with awesome action sequences. It's hard to think how they could top themselves, but you know what, I'm in for it, even if they can't reach it, it will be awesome to see another entry.

2. Spider Man: Across The Spiderverse Part One - Remember the first one coming out a few years ago, and how much of a masterpiece it was, if you don't then take the time to re-experience it, or even experience it for the first time. The teaser they released just got me more excited to see what the creators will bring to this one, plus it's the first part of a greater story, and I can't wait to see what we get.

1. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness - Once we finished Spider Man No Way Home and we got the teaser for this, I was pumped for the possibilities. Yes, I'm hearing some rumors here and there, nothing really concrete, so it feels like one of those movies where the sky is the limit. Who could appear, what could we see, these are all types of questions that have me invested in what we get, plus I really liked the first one, and with Sam Raimi directing this, I so can't wait to see what we get.

So that is my list of anticipated movies of the year. Will they come out this year? Who knows, but more importantly, will they deliver? I look forward to seeing if that's the case.

Top 10 of 2021

We have made it through another year, and yeah this was another year with bumps and bruises, but we got many great movies again this year, and I want to take time to rank them. I should mention that I didn't see every movie this year, and as I have stated many years in the past, this is my personal top 10 favorite movies of the year, the ones that had the biggest impact on me this year. So here is the countdown.

10. No Time To Die - Many of the James Bond actors never had a solid conclusion, they just stopped, except for Daniel Craig. That was part of what I really liked about it, but the scope of the adventure really got me very excited, and it delivered on that and a great conclusion for Daniel Craig’s take. Also we got some grand cinematography, this enthralled me.

9. Free Guy - Video game movie that’s not based on a video game, it was more than that, there was aspects of The Truman Show, a bit of The Matrix, and a great take on our gaming culture. There are many things that will stick out, but the one that stood out was how someone that in a world with many people that were mean to each other decided to be the good guy in his interactions which helped leave an impression for me. 

8. Raya and the Last Dragon - You know, this was one movie that I wished more people saw, it came out in a rough time but with it on Disney+ now, I’m hoping more people check this out, it has a great message about trusting one another, and that left a huge impact, plus the animation was very gorgeous. 

7. Encanto - Both this movie and Raya and the Last Dragon go back and forth as to which one I like more. I gave this the nudge over Raya….for now. What stood out was the characters and the story of how a girl with no powers had the biggest impact on her family, I really like these stories and it was a really cool place to explore. 

6. West Side Story - Steven Spielberg is one incredible director. I’m a huge fan of his science fiction and fantasy movies, but just about every movie he does is great, and just the fact that he attempts to do any genre he can, and just about every effort is fantastic. I was mesmerized by every shot in the movie and the choreography was just energetic. 

5. A Quiet Place Part 2 - One movie we were suppose to get last year but of course you know what happened, but seeing this year was a huge treat and it was amazing, it was great to see that it was just as good as the first. I cared about the characters and what they went through and where things would go. Plus the intensity was just as strong as the first and just a great world to come back to.

4. Shang Chi - Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon of the MCU. This was a big surprise and just very much awesome. All the trailers sold me on the movie we would get, but it was way better than I was expecting it to be. The best way I would try to describe it is epic yet personal. There were so many epic battle sequences especially the last half an hour of the movie, and yet it focused not the family drama, especially between Shang Chi and his father. It was an awesome movie. 

3. Ghostbusters Afterlife - I worried with all the delays that I would end up overhyping this movie. I tried before the movie to dial things back a little so I wouldn't overhype it. This movie delivered, and it delivered on an emotional aspect that I wasn't expecting it to. It was a smaller scale movie but what got it this high was the character of Phoebe, who is the granddaughter of Egon Spengler, and her connecting with her grandfather throughout the movie. It delivered on an ending I didn't expect them to do and it was worth it, I won't spoil the ending for those that haven't seen it, but it's worth it, especially if you are a Ghostbusters fan.

2. Spider Man No Way Home - Learning about all those leaks and rumors, I figured it would be a very fun MCU movie with awesome cameos and that was it, and that would have been awesome alone, but what made this movie soar to where it is on this list is the story itself, which I will try to stay spoiler free as much as possible. It focused on Spider Man who wasn't trying to just fighting his enemies, but took time to step back and see what he could do to help them. What he went through as a result stood out and what he learned and just the journey he went through made this a top tier MCU movie for me. One day I will have to do an updated ranking on all MCU movies.

1. Dune - Prepare to have your mind blown if you have not seen this. This was my most anticipated movie of the year and this was as a result of the director's previous works. I saw this on the IMAX theater near me opening night, and it was a mind blowing cinematic experience. The scale of the movie matched the screen, everything from the sights and the sounds. Oh yeah, Hans Zimmer's score was amazing in this. Yes, this is only half a story, but it was enough to bring it all the way to the top of the list. Also, I can't wait for the second part in 2023, I will be there in the IMAX theater opening night. 

Yes, we had another great year regarding movies, and I look forward to what 2022 brings. I will have the list of anticipated movies up soon. 

In Response to Godzilla Vs Kong's success, Could a Few Movies Come Out Earlier than Planned?

 This past weekend we had a win with the movie industry, particularly the theatrical box office. We saw Godzilla vs Kong have a very successful weekend. Within 5 days, Godzilla Vs Kong earned $48.5 million domestically, and reached $285 million worldwide within 10 days. With the pandemic we are in, these numbers are very impressive, especially that the movie theater industry had not been doing very hot this past while.

With this recent success, I began to wonder if some movie studios might respond by moving a couple of their movies to an earlier date. I am not going to take the time to speculate which of those movies could be moved up, but I have wondered if maybe a couple of movies could move up to May to help fill in some of the voids, or one in May and then one in early June. This is pure speculation, they may not do it, but I would think at least there would be talks at the studios about moving a movie or two to an earlier date. 

This would be awesome if this occurred. Again I don't know if this will happen, it may not, and there may not be any of these kind of discussions occurring, and if that's the case, then this is still a great win and we will have great movies to look forward to this summer. I am just glad for the life brought back to the box office and that there is still life in the movie theater. 

Top 21 Most Anticipated movies of 2021

With 2020 in the rearview, now is the time to look forward to what 2021 brings. Yeah, I understand things are still a little rocky and there is a chance not all of these movies will hit their release dates, but I remain optimistic that we will get all these movies this year, one way or another. You will find many repeats throughout the list, I am still very much excited for them, even with delays, the order might be different but here we go.

21. Free Guy - The trailer seems interesting, especially the new trailer from October. The concept seems intriguing and I look forward to seeing it.

20. Infinite - We have good cast members like Mark Wahlberg, and the concept behind it is very interesting to me, the idea of being able to go to the lives of ancestors. 

19. The Tomorrow War - Another science fiction movie that has a cool premise of bringing soldiers from the past and they fight a war in the future. It also has Chris Pratt in it. I am sold.

18. Morbius - This was suppose to come out last year, it wasn't on my list last year, but the trailer seems very interesting that I thought of putting on my list this year.

17. Venom: Let There Be Carnage - I am very intrigued by this mainly because it is directed by Andy Serkis, I am very interested to see what he does with this, plus I enjoyed the first one.

16. Godzilla Vs Kong - We have been waiting since last year, it was suppose to come out March 2020, and we still don't have any trailer. I really look forward to seeing the showdown, please don't let us down.

15. Uncharted - I didn't play the games, so I don't have a strong connection with the source material. But I like Indiana Jones style adventures so I am looking forward to seeing this for that reason.

14. Jungle Cruise - The most recent trailer before the movie got delayed looked to be a very fun movie, plus the cast looks like they are having a total blast.

13. Luca - We just got an excellent new Pixar movie last month, and I am already looking forward to their next project, which is another original film. 

12. Raya and the Last Dragon - I knew nothing about this movie when I put it on my list last year, but we got a trailer this past year and I am now more intrigued. This looks like a fun movie.

11. Fast and Furious 9 - 20 years ago we got the first movie, I can't believe it, and I can't believe that I am a fan of these movies now, I didn't think much of the first few, but since the 5th one I got into these.

10. Shang Chi - After a year of no new MCU movies, we get quite a few ones, this being one of them that sounds very interesting. I like when we get new characters and we get their own solo movies. Plus an MCU Kung Fu movie, count me interested.

9. Black Widow - Every trailer we got for this movie just increased my anticipation for this movie. I wasn't super pumped for it when I learned about it, but I was always interested in it, but following the trailers I am more interested. Please arrive in May.

8. A Quiet Place Part 2 - We were one week away, and then craziness happened and we didn't get this movie, but we got early reactions and they were incredibly impressive, which increased my excitement and anticipation for this movie. I may have to not get any food with this one.

7. No Time To Die - Please please please don't delay this one, I hear the early rumors that this could face another delay, but my excitement is still intact for this one, even with the lengthy delays and the production problems. The trailers have me sold. Please come out this time. 

6. Mission Impossible 7 - Ever since Mission Impossible 3, and even more since Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, I have been a fan of this series, and just hearing all that is going on with this production has me excited with the motorcycle stunt and all. This is also the 25th anniversary of the first movie.

5. Eternals - Reportedly this is suppose to be one of the biggest MCU movies ever, well maybe with the exception of Avengers Endgame. Everything I hear about this movie has me very intrigued and just gets me more pumped to see it. Expecting this to be an amazing MCU cosmic movie, which I enjoy those kind of movies. 

4. Top Gun Maverick - Even though we have had to wait over a year for this movie, I am still very excited to see this. There are two main reasons why, and not because it's a sequel to a big movie. First reason is the director of this movie has directed a few very good movies, with Only The Brave being fantastic. Second, those aerial shots in the trailers are incredible and I look forward to seeing this on the IMAX screen for that reason.

3. Spider Man 3 - What has me the most pumped about this besides the fact it is another Spider Man movie, who is an awesome character, but all the rumors and reports that have been attached to this movie. Every report I hear just adds to the anticipation for this, from reports of previous Spider Men from other universes coming in, and old villains we have seen before come back, with all this feeding into seeing a live action Spiderverse, yes I am very excited for this.

2. Ghostbusters Afterlife - It's been a year since we got the trailer for this movie, we really haven't gotten too much since, with the exception of reports and all. Why is this so high on my anticipation list? The first movie is a huge part of my childhood. And everything I hear about this movie just brings the nostalgia and also the potential story behind it has me very excited. The idea of family present in the movie and going to a rural setting seems to be a ton of fun. Plus seeing the original cast make an appearance seems to be fun as well. So excited to see this.

1. Dune - Director Denis Villeneuve is a very interesting director that has brought us amazing movies within the last decade, one of them being Arrival which is amazing, and also Blade Runner 2049 which was visually stunning. I saw one interpretation of this source material already, I have not read the book so I can't compare there, but I am pumped to see what this director brings. That trailer helps to set the scope of the movie which appears to be epic which is what I am expecting this movie to be like. These are just a few factors that bring this movie to the top of my list.

I understand that many of these movies are subject to change, but this is how my list is at this time. I am excited for what this year brings for us regarding movies. 

Top 10 movies of 2020

 I don't need to really say much about 2020, but it was a very interesting year to say the least. The one year where the majority of my most anticipated movies did not come out, I still had a few, but I still got to see quite a few good movies. A lot of the movies I saw in theaters this year were older movies, but there were still a few newer movies I got to see in theaters, and maybe a couple of them I saw via streaming. Anyway, I still was able to get a top 10 list for this year for you, so I hope you enjoy.

10. News of the World - This probably wasn't the greatest movie, but I still was able to enjoy it. What I enjoyed about it was the atmosphere of the movie and how intriguing the situation was for a character to go town to town to read stories from the newspaper, it was in 1870 and in a time where not everyone had easy access to the things going on in the world. It was cool to also see this character deal with controversial stories and calm down the audience. Very much enjoyed.

9. The Invisible Man - Low budget horror movie that was extremely well done. I didn't think a character that was invisible could be used in such an effective way, very intense. The performance from the main lady, Elisabeth Moss, was fantastic, the reason the movie was so intense was because of her performance and how she handled the situation presented to her.

8. Children of the Sea - Originally came out in 2019, it didn't hit theaters till this year (and yes it made it to a few theaters in August). I saw the trailer and it stood out to me. This was a movie that was just beautiful to look at, the story was interesting enough but the visuals was what I took away from this whole experience and I am very glad I got to see this on the big screen to appreciate the animation.

7. Weathering with You - I first discovered the director Makoto Shinkai back in 2011 when I saw The Place Promised In Our Early Days, but became more familiar with him with Your Name, which was amazing. The animation is just as stunning in this, maybe the movie is not as impacting as Your Name, but this movie still left an impact on me and had great emotions attached to it, and kind of surprised me a bit with how the story progressed. Again, not as great as Your Name, but this is worth checking out.

6. Bill and Ted Face The Music - One movie that put a huge smile on my face. This was a movie I really needed when it came out. It was full of optimism and enthusiasm that I felt good about things coming out of this movie. I actually got to see this in a small theater not too far from me and it was just a good experience to be with a few friends for that movie. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter were great back in their classic roles. Overall just a great movie that helped me feel happier even in the tough of times.

5. Onward - Came out just before we were declared a pandemic. I saw this as the world was beginning to fall apart and things were beginning to cancel or get postponed, so I saw this as society was starting to crumble...so to speak. This was a very good movie that a ton of fun, and I really enjoyed the adventure aspect a ton. I also appreciated that after theaters shut down that Disney was willing to release this digitally so we could enjoy this, and I enjoyed rewatching this a ton.

4. Love and Monsters - Until September, I did not know about this movie, and based off the trailer I wanted to check it out. I was lucky enough to see it in theaters, and I was so glad to see it. This was a very good movie that was just fun to see, it had exactly what I wanted and needed at the time. It had an adventure, crazy monsters or creatures, it had humor. This was a great experience and had many excellent moments that I appreciated. This was the surprise movie that I wasn't anticipating and I am glad we got it.

3. 1917 - Okay, I am cheating here, it came out in 2019 technically, but since it didn't get a nationwide release until January 10, 2020 and I didn't get to see it till this year, I am going to include it here. It is an incredible experience. I really felt part of the experience throughout the movie, there were also some really shocking moments that really surprised me, and helped add some extra emotions beyond adrenaline. Again, this is a 2019 movie, but since it got a nationwide release in 2020, I will include it for that reason, plus this movie is worth seeing and talking about. 

2. Tenet - We actually got my most anticipated movie of 2020, the year where chaos took over and the majority of the movies on my list didn't come out, we actually still managed to get my most anticipated movie, I call that a win. I found this to be a really cool movie. What really stood out to me was how it was shot practically with the use of practical effects over digital, and that made many of these set pieces to be really amazing. I really also got a kick out of the locations we were taken to. It was great to see a big spectacle on the IMAX screen.

1. Soul - Pixar does it again, they give us an amazing movie. This movie a ton of what I wanted. It had the humor, many lines in the movie were very well delivered and well placed that I laughed for quite a bit. It took us to very unique locations, like how the Great Before, and the Great Beyond, were really cool. It had a few twists that were very cool and the way those occurred really kept me engaged with the story. It had a good emotional payoff at the end and I really liked it. This was an amazing movie and this ended up becoming my top movie of the year.

Yeah, 2020 wasn't the year I was hoping it to be, but it still featured many good movies for me to check out and I consider myself grateful for the ones we ended up getting. I will have a list of my most anticipated of 2021 very soon. 

25 Recommendations of what to check out through streaming

This year turned out a whole lot different than we were anticipating a few months ago. A lot of my anticipated movies of this year got shuffled and a few were moved to next year (so some of them will be on my anticipated list for 2021). I do want to take the time and let you know my heart and prayers go out to all of you that have been affected by this pandemic, whether health wise or financial wise, and I hope the best for all of you through this hard time.

Any way, at this time the best place to be to help stop this pandemic is to stay home, and thankfully we have a ton of content available at our fingertips. I thought I would take the time and give you 25 recommendations of what you can check out through streaming. These are ones you can find through services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc.

The idea of this list is to help you find content that you have not have been aware were available to watch via streaming, ones you haven't seen or heard of before, or ones you saw before but may have forgotten about. Anyway I hope this list helps you out a bit. I put a mix of different things, there are mainly movies but there are a few tv shows in the mix, and from different platforms.

These aren't in order, but just ones I thought of recommending to help you through this hard time.

Here is the list:


-Onward (Disney+): This was just released in theaters right before the pandemic hit, and I managed to catch it in theaters. This had a great story about a couple of brothers working together to bring their father back for one day. It was done by Pixar, and had a great voice cast. It is a ton of fun that will give you great laughs and also will give you things to think about, totally worth seeing.

-Spider Man Into The Spiderverse (Netflix): I am sure many of you have already seen this, but if not, now is the opportunity to see it. This isn't your traditional Spider Man movie, it has a unique animation style, a pretty cool story, this is an excellent movie that should not be missed.

-Spider Man 2002 (Hulu): Before the MCU, Superhero movies were few and far between. I was familiar with Spider Man as a character because of the cartoon series, so I was excited for this movie to come out, and it was a great movie for me when I saw it in theaters. I still enjoy rewatching the movie to this day, it is a bit cheesier than I remember, but still a ton of fun to watch.

-Minority Report (Netflix): How many of you are familiar with this forgotten Steven Spielberg film? I saw this movie in theaters back in 2002, and it is a cool Science Fiction film, it features a grim world, but there are plenty of good twists and turns found in the movie. I don't want to ruin any of these twists so I recommend checking it out if you are a fan of Science Fiction movies, or a fan of Steven Spielberg movies.

-The Replacements (Amazon Prime): I haven't watched this all the way through in a while, but this movie hits 20th anniversary this year. It also features Keanu Reeves before the Keanu renaissance, it is actually pretty funny, and there are some other well known actors in the movie, like Jon Favreau, Gene Hackman, Orlando Jones, and Rhys Ifans.

-The Social Network (Netflix): A movie about Facebook, I really thought this was a bad idea, but then I saw it and I was amazed how engaging the movie was. The performances were great, I already talked about this in my top 50 of the 2010s, but I still highly recommend this movie if you have not checked it out.

-Hook (Netflix): This is another one that you may or may not have seen, but if you haven't, then this is a fun movie to watch. This is about Peter Pan who grows up and puts Neverland behind him, only to find out that his kids are taken and he needs to return to Neverland to save his kids. Robin Williams as Peter Pan, Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, and directed by Steven Spielberg.

-National Treasure (Netflix): Do you want an adventure movie, a treasure hunt type movie? Then this is one you can check out. This is probably one you have already seen, but it wouldn't hurt to rewatch again, would it?

-Infinity Train (Cartoon Network): I first learned about this mini series back in 2017 when I watched the pilot they created to gain interest. This is about a 12 year old girl on her way to computer camp who is brought to a unique train where each car has it's own pocket universe, she ends up having a number on her hand which she doesn't know why it's there, this show is about her journey to get off the train, and the friends she makes on her journey. If you liked Over The Garden Wall, I recommend checking this out, you should be able to watch it on the Cartoon Network app.

-Gargoyles (Disney+): This is a cartoon series that started in 1994. I recently rewatched the series, and I think it holds up pretty well today. It is rather epic for a kids show back in the mid 90s, features everything from magic to time travel, and many other really cool things, plus it features connections to works of Shakespeare. This show is totally worth checking out.

-Willow (Disney+): I state that this is my favorite movie, and it holds up for me today. This is a grand adventure movie, especially if you are a fan of fantasy movies from the 80s and enjoy Lucasfilm movies. It takes you to some really nice looking locations, it has a ton of fun moments and adventurous moments that should be able to put a smile on your face.

-Goldeneye (Amazon Prime): Was No Time to Die high on your list to see? It was for me, but good news is that all the James Bond movies (minus the Daniel Craig ones unfortunately) are available on Amazon Prime so you can go back and rewatch any of James Bond's previous adventures. I am going to go with Goldeneye as I really like that one.

-Secret of Nimh (YouTube): This movie is available to watch in full on YouTube. If you like Don Bluth, you should have already seen this, if not, then I highly recommend checking this classic from 1982 out.

-Seinfeld (Hulu): Everyone's favorite show about nothing, okay maybe not everyone, but it's a show I love to watch, especially in moments when I am a little stressed and need a bit of a laugh to get me going again, or just get a smile on my face.

-A Quiet Place (Amazon Prime): While we wait for the sequel coming out in September now, we can go back to rewatch the first one on Amazon Prime. If you haven't seen this one, I strongly recommend seeing it, it is a unique movie with a unique idea and works well with the concept.

-Gravity Falls (Disney+): Are you looking for a kids show that combines X-Files and Stranger Things? This is the show that is for you. I first watched the show two and a half years ago, and the premise intrigued me, the mysteries surrounding the town of Gravity Falls caught my interest, but also the characters are a ton of fun to watch. This is one of those Disney cartoon shows I totally recommend checking out.

-Amphibia (Disney+): I heard about this show last year, watched the first episode on YouTube when it was available to watch for free, I enjoyed it, then started to catch it on Disney+. It is a cartoon show about a girl transported to a world of frogs. It features a crazy world, has good morals, and I get plenty of good laughs from it. This is one of those shows I could put on and could destress me.

-Tron Uprising (Disney+): One forgotten animated show that takes place between Tron and Tron Legacy. The movies can be criticized for not really having a very good story, this series has a pretty solid story, and the visuals are similar to Tron Legacy, so it's sleek. The animation is also really cool.

-Clue (Amazon Prime): A board game movie that actually works, then again I don't think there are many of those. So many fun performances, particularly Tim Curry as the butler Wadsworth. You will get plenty of laughs out of the movie.

-John Carter (Netflix): Disney's attempt to do a huge Space Opera before they purchased Lucasfilm and worked on Star Wars. Honestly the spectacle behind this is really cool. Yeah, there are issues with the pacing and story, but the world created is fun to explore.

-Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (Netflix): Here is a movie that has the style of a video game, it's very different but really cool. If you are a fan of video games or comic books, I strongly encourage to check this out if you have not seen this yet. This can brighten your day or at least turn your day upside down.

-20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (Disney+): I am not sure how many of you have actually seen this, but I remember catching this for the first time when I was 8 years old, and I was really intrigued by it, the big highlight was the fight with the giant squid during the last half an hour of the movie. It is an older movie but still pretty cool.

-Treasure Planet (Disney+): There are a lot of classic Disney animated movies, but there are some that didn't catch the attention of the masses when it came out but deserve a second go, this is one of those. The adventure aspect and the animation are awesome. Give this one a chance if you haven't seen it, especially if you like Sci-Fi animated movies.

-Hot Rod (Netflix): Do you want a dumb funny movie? This is a perfect dumb funny movie to watch. There are plenty of laughs to have, it is about an aspiring stuntman who is trying to raise money to save his dying stepdad....so he can beat him in a fight, and yes you are not crazy, you read that right. It's a funny ridicouls movie that I think is worth checking out.

-Dark Crystal Age of Resistance (Netflix): This is a marvel to behold, a 10 episode series created primarily with puppets, and it felt very believable. A prequel series to the 1982 film The Dark Crystal. The world is amazing and wonderful to explore, it just looks beautiful, and it has a good story. If you enjoyed the movie as a kid, you definitely want to check this one out.


I hope this gives you a few different options on various streaming platforms that you can check out. I am sure you seen some of these, some you probably haven't seen but I hope this inspires you to check out a few of them at least. Top 50 Personal Favorites of the 2010s

I apologize that this has taken a while to make, I have been busy, plus I have been debating what my top 50 personal favorites of the decade should be, but I eventually got this list together. I should also note that with the top 10s of the years that I did, some of those (even if they were on the top) may not have made it to this list. This is a reflection of the whole decade and not just the individual years. This was a hard list to make but still fun. Once again, this is my personal list.


50. Logan - A great way to end Wolverine's story. It is a hard movie to rewatch, but gave us a great ending to the character of Wolverine.

49. Skyfall - My favorite James Bond movie to date. The action is great, the adventure aspect is great, and some nice shots in the movie.

48. Lego Movie - Inspires creativity and just tons of laughs to go with it. Plus the way it was animated was very unique.

47. Rogue One - This is the Star Wars prequel movie I really wanted. Great story and great visuals to accompany it.

46. Ford V Ferrari - Awesome movie based on a true story with amazing race sequences. Plus great performances as well.

45. Secret World of Arrietty - A Studio Ghibli movie that is gorgeous and takes you to a world of wonder.

44. Dunkirk - This was the most intense movie going experience for me, and was just amazingly put together.

43. Only the Brave - A true story on firefighters, made me really appreciate their bravery and skill. Plus I really liked the cinematography.

42. Tron Legacy - Story may be lacking, but the visual and audio experience is just incredible, a dream come true.

41. X-Men Days of Future Past - My favorite X-Men in the Fox series with great cast of characters and great use of time travel.

40. Pacific Rim - The giant robot battle sequences are excellent, and just a ton of fun to watch, and benefits from watching on the big screen.

39. Captain Phillips - Great movie from Paul Greengrass. The last 10 minutes of the movie were very intense.

38. Wreck It Ralph - A great movie about the video game world, that featured great cameos, and also had a great story.

37. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - One overlooked movie that so uniquely put together and just a blast to watch.

36. Coco - For those that are looking for a great movie about family history, this is it. The world of the dead is colorful and amazing, and has great emotion.

35. A Quiet Place - I am not big on horror thriller movies, but this has such a unique concept and idea that made the movie so engaging and worth revisiting.

34. La La Land - A musical that was very engaging and kind of brought me back to the musicals of the 50s, very stylistic.

33. The Social Network - I thought a movie about Facebook was a very bad idea, then I saw the movie and I was extremely surprised, plus it's one that's worth rewatching.

32. Limitless - A very unique concept behind the movie, a pill that can increase your intelligence, and intriguing to see how it's presented.

31. Wolf Children - Director Mamoru Hosoda is one I have been keeping an eye out for. I really liked his previous efforts, this was the one where I wanted to watch anything from this director. This has many beautiful sequences.

30. Rango - A western animated movie from the director of Pirates of the Caribbean that is very bizarre but incredibly intriguing, the world we are taken to was kind of fun to explore, and some of the animation is pretty. Even has a few great sequences.

29. Edge of Tomorrow - The advertisement was intriguing but mainly got me to the door, but when I walked through the door I discovered so much more than I was expecting. This is an action science fiction oriented Groundhog Day, and some of the ideas and concepts made me think.

28. Prisoners - Didn't know anything about Denis Villeneuve until I saw this movie, I saw clips of this and was intrigued by this movie. It is a very dark and very disturbing movie, but there are things about this, especially how it came together that was somehow fascinating. The experience is both disturbing and intriguing.

27. A Silent Voice - This is not an easy movie to watch, but the story is beautiful and there is so much to it. I discovered this through an add on Facebook one day and I am surprised this has had such an impact on me ever since. One of those Japanese animated movies that I think just about everyone should see at least once.

26. Zootopia - Not just a movie about a city of all types of animals, but an allegory of how we can place labels on groups of people that are different from us. I am trying to be a better person each day, and this is one of those movies that helped me be aware of my words and actions towards others. Plus this is really funny in parts.

25. Thor Ragnarok - With many Marvel movies coming out that grabbed my attention, this was not one of them. Wow did this movie surprise in so many ways. I was laughing so hard throughout the movie, and I was blown away by the visuals, they were so unique, it was very unique.

24. Interstellar - Christopher Nolan did it again, gave us an epic space movie. The ideas behind it were very intriguing, and very pretty to look at. The performances were great, especially the actress who played young Murph. Also, I think this is probably the best score by Hans Zimmer.

23. Knives Out - I really like Rian Johnson's movies, and yes, even The Last Jedi, but this is one that I probably like the most. I really loved the murder mystery vibe, but what stood out more was that as you pulled the layers back you get a very intriguing family drama. There were also plenty of twists and turns that kept me invested, especially when I thought I figured out the whole movie.

22. Kubo and the Two Strings - Studio Laika had my attention for the previous movies from them, but this is the one that stands out the most. I really like the story and the visuals are just gorgeous. This was just an amazing movie.

21. Paddington 2 - I was very surprised by the first one, it was a charming movie. I didn't think the second one would be as good, and wow I was very much surprised when I saw this. I was sad to see this got ignored, and I try to tell people about it and hope more people discover this, as it is a hidden gem.

20. Captain America Winter Soldier - This was one of those movies that changed everything for me in the MCU, with how Iron Man 3 and Thor The Dark World turned out, I figured I knew everything, and then this movie changed everything. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and the action was amazing.

19. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - I wasn't the biggest Harry Potter fans, I enjoyed them, but then when The Half Blood Prince came out, that one got me invested in the overall story somehow. This movie was a grand experience, preparing by rewatching all the previous entries before seeing this, and just loving this final entry and how everything came together. I also enjoy rewatching this and catching all those things I missed the previous viewings of the movie.

18. The Martian - A story of someone being lost on a planet for a very long time, you would think this would be depressing, but I was laughing and I really liked Matt Damon's enthusiasm and optimism in the situation. Gives me the courage to try to be a bit more enthusiastic and hopeful in difficult situations. Plus the shots on Mars are great.

17. Your Name - One of the most beautiful animated movies I have ever seen. Seriously, there are many scenes in this movie that I could take and frame onto my wall, they are so gorgeous, director Makoto Shinkai's movies are very pretty to look out, but this also gets further props by giving us great characters, I was so invested in seeing the two main characters ending up together.

16. Secret Life of Walter Mitty - Something about this movie really stands out to me, the biggest thing is I really relate to the main character Walter. I really love the progression of the movie, especially when you start in dream sequences and then all of a sudden you end up in Greenland. This was an awesome adventure movie from someone that you would think wouldn't end up in one.

15. Blade Runner 2049 - The first Blade Runner is intriguing, I caught it years ago, and one I need to rewatch to better understand. Anyway, this was very stunning visually, and just the whole world is very intriguing. It also has a story that kept me invested, but the world created was the biggest highlight.

14. Mad Max Fury Road - My first experience with Mad Max was Beyond Thunderdome. I heard they were trying to do a sequel for a very long time, I didn't think they would even make it even better than what we got before, but this was just an amazing experience. The action sequences are just amazing.

13. Star Wars The Force Awakens - I know there are many that have quarrels with the new trilogy and anyone would think I am crazy for putting this in my list, but this is a movie that had a huge impact on me. This brought back the nostalgia from the original trilogy when I thought we wouldn't get anything that felt like the original trilogy, and also gave enough new mysteries to get me thinking and wondering. This was a totally fun Star Wars movie.

12. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - The trilogy as a whole is worth seeing, but if I were to single out any of the entries, this is the one I would single out, it was a totally mind blowing experience. The story and the characters kept me very invested, and also the world we got was amazing. I think Caesar is an amazing character, which kept me invested in the final entry as well. This is a trilogy that I strongly recommend checking out, but if not the trilogy, this is still an excellent movie.

11. Gravity - I got to see this on the IMAX screen in 3D, and this is one of those movies where that large screen experience with the 3D really had an impact on me, it was visually gorgeous, all those shots in space. This is one of those movies that after experiencing it, I don't have a desire to be an astronaut because of all that goes wrong, but the beauty is enough to make me rethink that decision.

10. Mission Impossible Fallout - Seriously, when you get an entry this far, there is no way the movies would get better, but this is in fact one of those movies that was the best in the series, I would say this is my favorite if it weren't for the one I put above it. Not only are the action sequences amazing, but the cinematography is beautiful. Plus how some of the details linked to the previous entries, this is one to not be missed.

9. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol - Yes, Fallout is an amazing movie and probably the best in the series, but I have to say that I really liked this one a hair more, keep in mind the word hair, but this one slightly edges out Fallout, I really love the team in this one, and some of the action sequences are amazing, as well as the use of humor in certain sequences, and the adventure aspect is the big highlight for me here.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy - This entry put us in a new part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and helped to expand it. This was a totally fun space movie, I get complete joy by rewatching this one. Plenty of moments that I busted out laughing and the chemistry between all the main players is fantastic.

7. Inside Out - Pixar hit it out of the park with this one. This one led me to experience all the emotions, plenty of moments where I laughed so hard, and moments I nearly got teary eyed. This movie has a unique concept, and one when I rewatch I catch some new things. This left a huge impact on me. Easily in my top 5 Pixar movies of all time.

6. Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse - I really like Spider Man, but I was tired of all the reboots of the character. But when I saw the first teaser in 2017, I knew I wanted to see this. I got to go to an early sneak peak of the movie and I was blown away, and this movie is one I enjoyed more and more when I rewatched it, the visual style is so unique and awesome that it's hard to look away, plus it's accompanied by a great story and great characters.

5. Arrival - A movie about aliens coming to Earth where Amy Adam's character must make contact with them and find out why they are there. There is a lot more to the movie than I was expecting, mainly the themes present in this movie, like establishing common ground in communication, learning to come together. Also, the cinematography and visuals in this movie are just excellent in this, and the story unfolding is great, which has benefited from multiple viewings for me.

4. Avengers Infinity War/Avengers Endgame - I am going to cheat here, yes these are two movies, but they come together to tell one large story, and I still can't say which one I prefer, as they are both excellent. This was the big finale for the first saga (known as the Infinity Saga) in the MCU. So many satisfying moments, from crowd pleasing moments to small emotional moments. These were huge epic movies that I figured wouldn't be the same for multiple viewings, but they only got better for me with each viewing.

3. How To Train Your Dragon - With the title, you would think this wouldn't be a good movie, but the trailers got my attention and I went to see it, and I just fell in love with the movie, and this is another movie that has gotten better with time. The characters are excellent, especially Hiccup and Toothless, and this was a movie that was totally worth experiencing in 3D. The animation is gorgeous, it is one of those worlds I would love to go to. The sequels are also great as well, and I strongly suggest seeing them all.

2. The Avengers - When Iron Man debuted in 2008, I learned they were working to this. When I saw the first trailer, it looked exciting, but wasn't sure how it would turn out. This one blew me away, it was amazing and funny and all. This was one I really wanted to rewatch immediately after it was over. This is the first MCU movie that I felt I could get an idea of how big this universe was, or so I thought until future entries showed how big this universe really is. All the ideas and concepts were totally fun as well.

1. Inception - In my opinion, this is Christopher Nolan's masterpiece. This is in my favorite movie of the 2010s. It has a very unique concept, yeah I am sure there were movies that attempted entering people's dreams, but this was still done in a unique way, also it is one of those movies you can enjoy the simple narrative the first time through, and then with multiple viewings I would figure out new details that would lead me to see the movie in a different way. Even with the ambiguous ending, I would rewatch the movie to find a way to support if Cobb was still in the dream world or not. This was a superb science fiction movie with a cool look to it.


The 2010s had excellent movies, even more that I couldn't include here, I was originally going to do 20, but I wanted to include more since there were so many great movies. I will continue to do more postings in the future and more reviews.

My 20 anticipated movies of 2020

It's now 2020, a brand new year, a brand new decade, so it's time to look at what's coming this year, and I would like to talk about the 20 movies that I am most excited for this year. Unfortunately we don't have one like Avengers Endgame, but that doesn't mean we don't have good movies coming, we have plenty of movies that look like they could be excellent. So let's go through my 20 movies I am looking forward to in 2020.

20. Infinite - I was going through what is coming out this year and the premise of this movie caught my attention. I don't know too much about it beyond that but it has a solid cast. I am intrigued to learn more.

19. Free Guy - This looks like it could be a fun movie, there is something about Ryan Reynolds that he can get a few laughs out of you.

18. Dolittle - The trailer caught my attention a couple of months ago, it looks a lot better than I thought it would look. It also looks like it will be fun to see Robert Downey Jr playing a different role than Tony Stark, he did a great job as Sherlock Holmes so I look forward to see what he does with this role.

17. Jungle Cruise - At this point, anything with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will be entertaining at the very least, even if it's not a very good movie, I can guarantee it will be a fun time at the movies, and this looks like it will be a fun time at the movies, plus it seems like him and Emily Blunt have good chemistry in this.

16. Bill and Ted Face the Music - I don't know much about this except it's being made, and that the first Bill and Ted movie from 1989 is very good, it is a ton of fun to watch. Keanu Reeves has been on a roll recently. I look forward to seeing him revisit one of his earlier roles.

15. Raya and the Last Dragon - I know nothing about this movie, this probably should be lower on the list for that reason, but the fact that it's a new Disney animated movie that looks to take place in China, and some of the concept art I saw looks kind of good.

14. Godzilla Vs King Kong - The latest movie was very enjoyable for me, I was very entertained especially by the battle sequences, I also really liked Kong Skull Island, some of the shots were gorgeous. I am excited to see how it all plays out when they come head to head in November

13. Fast and Furious 9 - We have gotten plenty of good Fast and Furious movies recently, yeah they are dumb fun, but I enjoy dumb fun. I don't know what this will involve this time but I look forward to seeing what we will get out of this when the first trailer debuts soon.

12. Soul - One thing I missed from Pixar recently was the abundance of original movies, that was how they made a great name for themselves, and we get two original movies from Pixar this year, this being one of them. I don't know too much about it but the first trailer we got was very nice. Count me very intrigued.

11. The Eternals - As we get into Phase 4 of the MCU, I hear things are suppose to get weirder and more interesting. I have heard very interesting things about this property. This being an entry of the cosmic realm, I am excited to see what this brings.

10. A Quiet Place Part 2 - A Quiet Place was a huge surprise for me in 2018, and now we get a sequel for the movie. I don't know how it will turn out, but the trailer we recently got has me very intrigued. Plus with John Krasinski back in the director's chair, I am excited to see how he advances the story.

9. Mulan - With so many Disney live action remakes, I am not too excited about them anymore, there are a few that I would like to see happen though, but I am very intrigued by this, that recent trailer we got made the movie so epic, and seems to shake things up a bit that I am excited to see this and see what they do with it. I just hope it's not a disappointment.

8. Onward - Again, I am happy we are getting original Pixar movies again. This totally looks like it will be fun, the premise totally seems like a ton of fun. Plus they have an awesome voice cast, I am curious who they will get to voice the father of the boys.

7. Wonder Woman 1984 - The first was a surprise, I was concerned with how it would be because of DC's track record, but this came and surprised me. We got the first trailer recently and I am officially pumped for their latest movie. Plus I am very curious how Chris Pine's character is back.

6. Black Widow - Time for Phase 4 of the MCU. I really like the character of Black Widow so I was interested in this no matter what, even with the events that occur in Endgame and this takes place before Infinity War, but the trailer caught my interest and this just looks like a ton of fun, and I can tell I will be entertained regardless.

5. No Time to Die - Daniel Craig has been a great James Bond, I have enjoyed his movies in this era of Bond, even the ones that were weaker, my favorite has been Skyfall thus far. The trailer we got about a month ago looked amazing, and with that trailer my intrigue went from interested to extremely excited.

4. Ghostbusters Afterlife - I am a fan of Ghostbusters. I was excited to learn of this coming, and the trailer that we got a month ago didn't just get me intrigued, but I can't wait to see this. I am use to the idea of knowing the Ghostbusters formula, but this looks like it could shake things up a bit and I like where it could potentially go.

3. Top Gun Maverick - The original Top Gun wasn't something I really grew up with, I did watch it once and maybe parts of it here and there, but that's it. What grabbed my attention was the director, Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tron Legacy and Only The Brave, plus a solid cast. Then I saw the trailers and the aerial shots looked gorgeous, and then my excitement only grew from there.

2. Dune - My only exposure to the property of Dune is the 1984 movie, which was alright, but why this is so high on my list is director Denis Villeneuve, who has become one of the directors that I look forward to seeing what they make next. I have heard amazing things out of the book, and everything I hear about this movie just sounds amazing and I can't wait for it to debut in December.

1. Tenet - One director that I get pumped for no matter what is Christopher Nolan, when the news broke last year that he was developing a new movie and didn't announce the title, I didn't care, I would have bought a ticket to the movie without a title, everything I have seen from Christopher Nolan has blown my mind, or at the least has intrigued me very much, plus he knows how to make an epic scale movie. I don't know a whole lot about the movie, but I like not knowing a whole lot, and I am excited to see everything unravel before me. Day 1 on IMAX!

There are plenty of other movies that I am looking forward to, but these are the ones that I am the most intrigued in. What are your most anticipated movies of 2020?

(UPDATED) Top 10 of 2019

We came to the end of another year, in fact another decade. So it's time to do another top 10 personal favorite movies of 2019. I will also do a top favorites of the decade, I think it will be my top 30 of the decade, but I am still thinking about that, but I will post that within a week at the latest.

Please note, I have not seen all the movies this year, there are plenty that are being haled as the greatest movies ever, but I haven't seen them, I may at some point, but this reflects my favorites of the year. Anyway, without further adieu, here are my top 10 favorites of the year:

10. Yesterday - What if you woke up one day and one of the biggest things in the world was forgotten and was gone. The world goes through a weird power out and the music of The Beatles disappeared and only one remembers who The Beatles were, this had such a unique concept that it grabbed my attention. Just FYI, if this happened, I wouldn't be able to bring back the forgotten music into the world.

9. Peanut Butter Falcon - One of those movies I wasn't planning to see, but everyone kept talking about it that I decided to check it out. It had a very good story, for those that don't know what it is, it is about a man with Down syndrome who lives in a senior home and escapes so he can meet his idol, a wrestling pro back in the day on TV. He accompanies a man played by Shia Lebeouf who is running from the law. It's got great cinematography, and a good soundtrack. This was one of those very pleasant movies that I just enjoyed taking the adventure.

8. Apollo 11 - Taken from footage shot during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, Todd Douglas Miller took the footage and put it all together to tell a story of the mission. It was such a cool experience, I saw First Man last year that dealt with one man's emotional journey to space, this dealt with the mission as a whole, and just seeing the footage from this perspective was just awesome, plus the film was in excellent condition, especially being 50 years old.

7. Klaus - So this was a movie I discovered on Netflix, but I believe it did have a very limited theatrical release so I would consider this one worth putting on the list. This is another story of the legend of Santa Claus and how Santa came to be, and it's told from the perspective of a mailman. This movie brought back a ton of nostalgia from animated movies back in the 90s, mainly from Disney, and no this isn't a musical. And this has a great story about a town that is transformed because the good deeds that were done. This is one I will be watching each Christmas.

6. Ad Astra - I remember hearing about this when I was trying to figure out my anticipated list for the year, but I chose not to include it since I didn't know anything about it except it had Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones and it took place in space. This was a visually gorgeous movie and had a great score, I saw it on IMAX and it was so worth it. For me, there was more to it that stood out, I listened to Brad Pitt as he was on his journey to confront his father and all that going through him made me think about those that I personally struggle with and how would I react to those that you aren't sure how it all will turn out. This is a movie I could see evolving over time as well.

5. JoJo Rabbit - What if I told you this movie was about a boy in Nazi Germany that has Hitler as an imaginary friend and it's somewhat of a comedy, would you go see it? That premise is very bizarre that I think the premise alone would not progress the movie to be completed. I don't know how Taika Waititi did it, but this was a very brilliant movie, and the premise is the beginning of the movie, but the boy soon finds a young girl living in his attic who is a Jew and he comes to know the girl and that changes his perception on the world. Without giving too much more away, let's say that the movie evolves as it progresses and there is more emotion than you would anticipate. This one is totally worth seeing.

4. How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World - Cool part, this trilogy began with the beginning of the decade, and it concludes with the end of the decade. Did they stick the landing, yes I really thought they did. We saw Hiccup and the rest of the characters grow with each new entry, and see Hiccup become a man here. This is a beautifully animated movie, the scenery is just gorgeous, and once again I wish I had a dragon. I also really like how they handle the love story between Toothless and the Light Fury, those moments where they communicate without dialogue is just charming and so well done. Also, I have to say John Powell did an excellent job with the score, the first is still the best, but this is such a wonderful entry and I am thankful we have such a wonderful trilogy of movies.

3. Knives Out - This was first announced late in 2018 and was surprised to hear this would come out this year, all I knew is that it was directed by Rian Johnson and starred Daniel Craig, This was a brilliant movie. It is a murder mystery movie that also has plenty of humor. I think of the movie Clue when I first watched it, but there is so much more to it. I don't know how to explain the movie without giving too much away, but lets say with the death in the family, some of the true colors of some of the family slowly come out. It kept me on the edge of my seat during my first viewing, the second viewing helped me catch what I missed, but even the third viewing I caught more I didn't notice before. I feel I should do a post about this movie and talk about aspects of the movie that really stood out because it's hard to talk about this movie without spoiling too much. See it if you haven't seen it yet.

2. Ford V Ferrari - I am not much of a sports person, but I can admit that one of the sports I enjoy watching is racing, like car racing and bike racing. So that was an aspect that grabbed my attention for this movie and why I really wanted to see it. Plus the cast and a great director, I was excited for it. This was an excellent movie, it had a good story about the small people overcoming the odds of a corporate company. Plus the race sequences were awesome, they were shot in a way that I really felt part of the action, I also watched this in a big theater with Dolby Atmos which enhanced my experience of watching the movie. Both Matt Damon and Christian Bale did an excellent job in their roles, and it was cool to see them work to build a race car to compete against Ferrari and seeing them looking at all aspects of the car to get it to the point it could compete. It was hard when I got out of the movie late at night to not drive my car like a race car. This is so worth seeing.

1. Avengers Endgame - When Iron Man came out in 2008, I never thought we would end up here, I knew shortly after the movie came out they were working on a team up movie, but I figured The Avengers would be the biggest they would go, wow was I wrong. After the ending of Avengers Infinity War, this was on my most anticipated list, and that anticipation only grew as it got closer to release. I saw the trailers and I heard the good reception, but that was all I knew regarding the movie, and this movie blew me away in so many ways. This was a movie for the fans and it all paid off in glorious ways. I remember the concerns coming up with the movie being three hours (I wasn't worried since the Lord of the Rings movies were 3 hours), but this was a movie that did not feel 3 hours at all, and the last 40 minutes of the movie was mind blowing. I don't know what to saw that hasn't already been said, this was a rewarding experience for me. And for those that still haven't seen it (I would be surprised if you haven't seen it yet), please do yourself a favor and see it. This was a wonderful time at the movies this year that I got very involved in, and this was my top personal favorite of the year.

So that does it for 2019, there were a lot of great movies this year. There were plenty of great movies this decade, I will do that list as soon as possible. I will also do a list of my top 20 movies I am looking forward to in 2020.

Fall/Winter movies 2019

As I did last year, I wanted to take the time to talk about some of the releases that are coming out the rest of the year, some I am really looking forward to, others I have a little interest in either seeing or seeing how they turn out, so I will give each movie a rating based on how excited I am for it. Now keep in mind that this list won't reflect all the movies coming out, there may be some on this list that are on here but I may not end up seeing but I have my eye on them, waiting to see how they turn out, enjoy this list.


Ad Astra (September 20) - Anticipation Level: Ecstatic
Thoughts: I heard about this movie last year, all I knew was that it was a space movie and there was Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones. I became very interested in seeing a trailer. When the trailers finally dropped, my expectations for the movie really grew as I couldn't help but get vibes of 2001, Interstellar, and Gravity. These are all movies I enjoy and I hope that this movie delivers, regardless, I will be seeing this on IMAX during opening weekend.

Abominable (September 27) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: I have this down because this is created by DreamWorks. There are times they release great movies, like the How To Train Your Dragon movies. I saw one trailer and it looks intriguing enough for me to be on the lookout for, it could be a fun story that if done just right, so I will wait to see what the reviews say when I see them

Joker (October 4) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: Yes, this is more likely on everyone's anticipated list, and it's not hard to see why, but this is not on mine. Yes, I like Batman, and yes I like the Joker, I think the Joker is an iconic villain. However, I really like the fact that his origin story is a mystery. I hear this movie has great buzz towards it, so I am curious on how this turns out.

Gemini Man (October 11) - Anticipation Level: High
Thoughts: Earlier this year, we got very impressive de-aging effects in Captain Marvel with Samuel L Jackson looking like he was taken from 1995 and filmed for the movie. Based off the trailers for this, the younger version of Will Smith looks like he came from 1990 and shot in our day. The action sequences in the 2nd trailer look rather good. This is on my radar to see when it comes out.

Addams Family (October 11) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: Okay, so maybe medium anticipation is a little high here, but I am kind of curious about this. It is always nice to get a family friendly halloween movie, and with that Are You Afraid of the Dark movie not happening anymore since it's a TV series reboot instead, this might do. Good voice talent attached, so I hope it's at least enjoyable.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October 18) - Anticipation Level: Low
Thoughts: I liked the first Maleficent movie, it wasn't a favorite, but it had a decent story and the visuals were very nice to look at. I don't see a reason for this to happen, plus when Disney did a sequel to their live action remakes lately (Alice and the Looking Glass), it wasn't very good. This could surprise me and I might like it, I will wait for the reviews and maybe check it out.

Zombieland: Double Tap (October 18) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: The first one a decade ago was a ton of fun, I got plenty of laughs out of it. When I saw the trailer for the new one, I don't think it got me on board as others, but I certainly hope that it was just a trailer I wasn't very impressed with but the movie puts a big grin on my face. The fact they brought the cast back is a big win.

JoJo Rabbit (October 18) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: What an interesting idea, a really bizarre one from Taika Waititi. Basically this kid has Adolf Hitler as an imaginary friend in the time period where he was rising to power. I am sitting here and wonder if it's worth checking out and if the idea is justifiable. I am uncertain at this time if I will see it or not.

Terminator: Dark Fate (November 1) - Anticipation Level: Low
Thoughts: I really like the first Terminator movie and the second to me is a masterpiece. So why is this low, well the sequels afterwards weren't all that great, I enjoyed Salvation more than the other 2 sequels that followed Terminator 2: Judgement Day. But after Genisys, I was just turned off towards the franchise as a whole. Could this save the series, I will wait to see.

Midway (November 8) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: To me, this almost looks like it could be a Michael Bay movie, a big blockbuster take on a big historical event, the action sequences look really good in the trailer, but will the emotional story match the big set pieces. Director Roland Emmerich is a hit or miss for me, I really liked Independence Day and Stargate and The Day After Tomorrow, but I didn't really care for White House Down, or Independence Day Resurgence at all. I am intrigued enough to keep an eye on it and see how it turns out.

Charlie's Angels (November 15) - Anticipation Level: Low
Thoughts: We had an adaptation of the movie based on the TV show back in 2000, I really enjoyed it and also the sequel that came a few years after that, yes they were cheesy but enjoyable. So far, the trailers we got haven't really got me interested. But they have Naomi Scott as one of the angels and I think she could be good here as she has been doing really good so far, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Ford V Ferrari (November 15) - Anticipation Level: High
Thoughts: One sport I really like is racing, and I think car racing is pretty cool. I also think this movie has a ton of great talent, from director James Mangold who directed Logan a couple of years ago, and then actors Matt Damon and Christian Bale. With all this in mind, this movie really has my interest and I look forward to checking it out when it comes out, plus it got very good reviews recently.

Frozen 2 (November 22) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: Do you remember Frozen back in 2013? If you don't, then I would be surprised and would think that you have been living under a rock. Actually if you haven't heard of it, you must have been living under a rock these last 6 years as I feel Frozen has almost been everywhere. I think the movie is pretty good, the hard part is I feel it's been everywhere to the point I have become exhausted of it. Personally I would rather have a sequel to Tangled instead, or Big Hero 6. That being said, the trailers have gotten my interest and I plan to check this out.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (November 22) - Anticipation Level: Ecstatic
Thoughts: Last year we got a great documentary based on the life of Fred Rogers. I watched an episode of Mister Rogers Neighborhood here and there as a kid, but it wasn't one of those I would watch consistently but there are certain sequences that stood out and were iconic, seeing his values help shape the show was really cool. I am very curious how this portrayal will turn out, I am sure Tom Hanks will do a great job, but I am curious where they will focus the story. Regardless I look forward to seeing this.

Knives Out (November 27) - Anticipation Level: Ecstatic
Thoughts: Regardless of how you feel about The Last Jedi, you got to admit that this looks very entertaining, and kind of has vibes of Clue released back in 1985. I remember hearing this movie being worked on late last year, and it kind of caught my attention. So far, the reviews for this have been outstanding. I look forward to checking this out when it comes out. Also, it looks like another role that Daniel Craig will have a blast playing.

The Aeronauts (December 6) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: I only discovered this movie recently. So far my anticipation is medium since I don't know a whole lot about it, but the trailer looked kind of nice. I think this might have a very limited theatrical release but this is suppose to debut on Amazon Prime two weeks afterwards so if this has very good buzz, I will probably check it out on Prime when it debuts there.

A Hidden Life (December 13) - Anticipation Level: Medium
Thoughts: My only exposure to this is one trailer, but I have to admit that based off the trailer, many of the shots featured in the movie are very gorgeous, and just off that I want to check out this movie. It is directed by Terrace Malick who has been known to doing gorgeous looking movies but the story tends to be a bit experimental, so we will see how the movie is. I remember seeing Tree of Life years ago.

Jumanji: The Next Level (December 13) - Anticipation Level: High
Thoughts: When I first heard about this sequel, I was a little concerned as the 2017 original sequel was a surprise movie that Christmas. I was concerned with this sequel until I saw the trailer and then my concerns were washed away and I got plenty of laughs. Dwayne Johnson as Danny DeVito and Kevin Hart as Danny Glover, I am pumped for this.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20) - Anticipation Level: Ecstatic
Thoughts: There are many that aren't a fan of The Last Jedi two years ago, I personally really liked it, it was gorgeously shot, but I can understand the concerns behind it, and I agree that it has it's problems. Regardless, my excitement hasn't diminished for Episode 9. What adds is that JJ Abrams is back in the director's chair. I really liked The Force Awakens as that re-ignited my interest in more Star Wars movies which I wasn't too keen on after the prequels. So with that in mind, I am excited to see what we get with this last movie, plus this is suppose to be the last movie in the Skywalker saga, and I hear that JJ Abrams plans to tie all the movies together, so if this fails, it will fail with glory and ambition in my books. Regardless of the outcome, I can't wait till December 20th.

Cats (December 20) - Anticipation Level: Low
Thoughts: Are you scared? No worries, so am I, these cats look kind of freaky. There is a great cast behind it, from Rebel Wilson to Judi Dench to Idris Elba, and the director has done some pretty good movies before, so I am hoping that we get a decent movie here. Anyway, even if not, we will at least get an interesting freak show here.

1917 (December 25) - Anticipation Level: Ecstatic
Thoughts: I did not know about this movie until I saw Hobbs and Shaw and we got the teaser trailer for this, and I was just stunned by how great this movie looks. There seems to be a great cast as well, and the director is the same one that did Skyfall, so this one has my full attention. Count me in on Christmas Day for this.

Spies in Disguise (December 25) - Anticipation Level: High
Thoughts: Will Smith and Tom Holland lending voices in an animated movie, yeah sure. What gets me is that the characters they play seem to fit who I would envision them as, so for that reason I am really looking forward to seeing this movie. This could be a fun movie to watch on Christmas, so I hope this delivers and doesn't crash and burn.


So these are the movies I am aware of, with many I am very excited for, and some that might gain my interest based on how they are received. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the year turns out for movies. When I can, I will try to do review posts on some of these movies. Stay tuned.
